Schloss Neuschwanstein, aka Sleeping Beauty's Castle

Schloss Neuschwanstein, aka Sleeping Beauty's Castle

A couple weeks ago, my sister and her friend Chelsea decided to visit us in Germany! It had been months since the last time I saw here and I was so excited. Over the years, we went from living with each other, to seeing each other only a couple times a year (she was in New York for school, I was in the UP), to seeing each other about once a week when we lived in Michigan (she would come over and do laundry). So when we moved to Germany last summer, it was definitely hard to say good bye. We had finally out grown our sibling rivalry and become friends. That's why when she said she was coming to visit for a week, I was stoked!

6 Things To Do in Rothenburg ob der Tauber

6 Things To Do in Rothenburg ob der Tauber

This past weekend we took a quick overnight getaway to the famous German town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. It is probably one of the most popular and quaint German towns you will ever see, and for good reason. This small walled city is oozing with medieval charm. From the half timbered houses, to the uneven cobbled stone streets, to the ancient walls that surround this city, there is so much to explore. Around every corner is a new sight or alley to explore, but I think the best way to experience Rothenburg is to spend the night there.

Family Time

Family Time

I would like to apologize for the lack of a second post last week. See, I was kind of busy and didn't get a chance to write much, but it was for a good reason - my grandparents were in town! They took a 3 week long, trans-Atlantic cruise from Florida to Italy, and then came to visit for the week. I was too busy showing them our new home and spending time with them that I forgot to write a blog post for Friday. But don't despair, we got lots of fun in and I even managed to get some pictures. And for I think the first time in the history of this blog, a lot of the pictures in this post are my own! Of course they aren't quite as good as the hubby's are, but I don't think they're too shabby.

Überlingen, More to Bodensee Than Just Diving

Überlingen, More to Bodensee Than Just Diving

After we were done diving last Saturday, we partook in a German tradition: Kaffee and Kuchen. Except that we didn't drink coffee, or eat cake for that matter.  But, we did get something warm to drink and a snack. So, it kind of counts? Right? In any case, it turned out to be a great afternoon on Saturday and we were able to sit outside in the sun and just enjoy relaxing, like true Germans.

Dive Log : Bodensee

Dive Log : Bodensee

And another month down!  I can't believe it's March already!  Seriously, where is this year going?!  I can't think of a better way to usher out one month and welcome the next better than diving, and so that's how we spent the weekend.  Some friends of ours invited us to head down to Bodensee with them for a couple of weekend dives. Bodensee is the largest lake in Germany and the third largest in central Europe, and it is nestled in the foothills of the Alps.

Touring the Welde Brewery

Touring the Welde Brewery

This was another of those lazy, stay at home, relax and get stuff done type of weekends. We've been gone the last few weekends and while we love having those quick weekend getaways, it can make laundry, grocery shopping and cleaning more difficult to fit in. But that doesn't mean we don't have fun when we stay home!

Underwater Cities

Underwater Cities

On Sunday, we checked off another item on our Bucket List - diving in Sundhäuser See.  I can't remember exactly how I found  out about this lake, although I think it was this PADI article I read about a year ago.  What caught my eye was the underwater city part.  And the fact that it was one of the closer ones to us that was listed.  We weren't going to be far from the lake so it naturally made sense to pay it a visit.
